I'm Joshua Vomberg, a web designer in Cape Town. This page says, in plain words, what information I keep when you get in touch or become a client, and what I do with it. South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) applies.
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. It's plain files served by GitHub Pages, which logs the usual server data (your IP address, browser and the pages you open) to keep the site running. I don't see or use that data.
The buttons on the site open WhatsApp or your email app. Nothing is collected until you choose to send a message.
If you WhatsApp or email me, I keep your name, number or email address and what you wrote, so I can reply and remember what we discussed. That's the only reason I keep it.
To build and look after your website I keep your business name, contact details, invoices and the login details you give me for your domain, hosting or payment accounts. I use them only to do the work you've asked for. I don't sell or share them with anyone, except the services your site needs to run (for example your domain registrar, GitHub Pages, Shopify, Yoco or PayFast), and only as far as the work requires.
Your website, domain and content belong to you. If we stop working together, I hand everything over and delete the login details you gave me.
Messages from people who don't become clients are deleted within a year. Client records and invoices are kept for five years, which is what the tax rules in South Africa require, then deleted.
You can ask me at any time what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Message me on WhatsApp at 066 316 1937 or email joshuavomberg21@gmail.com. I'll reply within a few days. If you're not happy with how I handle it, you can complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
Each client's website has its own privacy page for the people who use it. This page covers only joshuavomberg.co.za and my dealings with you.
