Web design in Cape Town, built by hand.
I'm Joshua Vomberg, a Cape Town web designer who hand-codes websites for small businesses: cafés, salons, barbers, bakeries, guesthouses, trades and studios. From R6,500 once-off, live within 7 days of me having your content, with the domain in your name and an editor so you can change it yourself.
Who is this for?
Owner-run businesses in Cape Town that need to be found and take a booking or an order online, without WordPress plugins to pay for and patch. If your customers order, book or enquire, I can build for it. See the work for the kind of sites I mean.
Cafés & restaurants
Your menu with real prices, orders and card payments landing while you're busy on the floor. Café Chiffon in Green Point is a dessert café I built an online shop for.
Bakeries & cake makers
Custom-order buttons, your collections and specials, all updated from your phone before the weekend rush.
Salons & barbers
A "Book" button that plugs straight into Fresha, Setmore or whatever you already use. Nothing breaks, no double bookings.
Guesthouses
Direct bookings through NightsBridge or straight to your WhatsApp, with your rooms and rates presented properly.
Trades
Plumbers, electricians, builders: a clean site that gets you found on Google and gets people calling or messaging.
Studios & creatives
Florists, tailors, photographers and planners: your work shown beautifully, with enquiries that actually reach you.
How much does a website cost in Cape Town?
A hand-coded starter site is from R6,500 once-off. A site that takes orders, bookings and payments is from R12,000, and a custom system that runs the admin behind your business is from R30,000. You pay 50% to start and 50% when you go live, and every site comes with the R450 a month care plan from launch, first month free. These are starting points, not price tags: every quote is custom to what you sell and how much of it, and you get the number in writing before anything starts. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.

The bar I build to: Inspecto, the compliance company my dad runs with 40 staff, where one form on the website feeds every job through 16 stages and nobody retypes anything. I've seen what that does to a business.

How long does a website take?
Live within 7 days from the day I have your content. From go-ahead, I aim to have your site live in about a week to ten days once I have your photos and details. You see the design early and shape it with me, so nothing goes live until you love it. A hand-coded site takes me days, not weeks, because Claude Code builds alongside me and I build every site myself: the person who answers your message is the person who made your site.
The clock starts when I have three things from you:
- A few of your best photos
- Your services or menu, with prices
- Your hours and the area you serve
How does it work?
Concept first, then build, then live. You see what I'd build before you decide anything, and you see the design early so you shape it with me.
- 01
Chat on WhatsApp
Tell me about your business — what you sell, how customers reach you now, what's not working. I'll show you exactly what I'd build and what it costs, in writing, before anything starts.
- 02
See a free concept first
If you're happy for me to use your photos, I build you a concept: a real page with your own photos, services and prices, so you can see it before deciding anything. Nothing owed.
- 03
We build it together
You see the design early and tell me what to tweak. We wire up your ordering or booking, your photos, your words. Half to start, half when you go live.
- 04
Live in days, looked after from launch
I publish it, hand you the editor and a copy of the whole site, and look after it every month from launch — your first month is free. Your site, always online, always current.
Where in Cape Town do you work?
Anywhere in Cape Town. I'm based in Sunningdale, on the Table View side, and I work across the city: Milnerton, Table View, Parklands, Durbanville and Tyger Valley on my side, and Green Point and the CBD, where Café Chiffon, the dessert café I built an online shop for, trades. We can start on WhatsApp, and I'm happy to meet in person when that helps.
Why not a template or WordPress?
Every site I build is custom-designed from scratch and hand-coded in plain HTML: no WordPress, no plugins to pay for and patch, nothing to break. For a small business that means three things. A fast site that's properly structured and goes live SEO-ready. A site you actually own, with the domain in your name and a copy of the files emailed to you at launch. And a simple editor, so you change your own words and photos from your phone. I'm open about how I work: Claude Code builds alongside me, which is why a hand-coded site takes me days, not weeks, and costs a fraction of an agency.
Speed
Ordinary web pages, no plugins, no page builder: fast on every phone, and live SEO-ready with your Google Business profile and search basics set up from day one.
Ownership
Your domain is registered in your name, and at launch I email you a copy of the whole site — the files themselves, not a login. Any web developer can work from it.
The editor
A plain form with just your words and photos, so the layout stays put. Change a price, tap Save, live in about a minute.
Do I own my website?
Yes. The domain is registered in your name and the site is yours, with or without the care plan. There are no lock-in contracts: the care plan runs month to month, you can cancel whenever you like with a month's notice, and cancelling it doesn't switch anything off. Hosting is free on the setup I use, so the only running cost is your domain, about R99 a year, which I pay while you're on the care plan.
- Domain registered in your name from day one
- A copy of the whole site emailed to you at launch — the files, not a login
- No hosting bill, in my name or yours; the domain is about R99 a year
- Care plan month to month: cancel any time with a month's notice and the site stays yours
What if you disappear?
It's a fair question when you hire one person. The short answer: nothing switches off. Your domain is in your name, you hold a copy of the whole site, and the editor is a free tool, not something I run.
You own it
Your domain is registered in your name. While you're on the care plan I pay the yearly renewal (about R99); if you ever cancel, it's billed to you directly. At launch I email you a copy of the whole site — the files themselves, not a login.
You change it yourself
Every site includes a simple editor — an email invite, no account to set up. A plain form with just your words and photos, so the layout stays put. Change a price, tap Save, live in about a minute. See it.
You're not locked in
There's no hosting bill at all — not in my name, not in yours. The only running cost is your domain (about R99 a year), and it's registered in your name, so if I'm ever gone you renew it yourself and nothing switches off. The live site is published from my hosting account, which is exactly why you get your own copy from day one: any web developer can put it back up anywhere or carry on with it.
Can I edit it myself?
Yes. Every site includes a simple editor: an email invite, no account to set up. It's a plain form with just your words and photos, so the layout stays put. Change a price or swap a photo from your phone, tap Save, and it's live in about a minute. See the editor for yourself. And if you'd rather not touch it, that's what the care plan is for: WhatsApp me the change and it's done within the week.
- Words, prices, photos, hours and specials, from your phone
- An email invite, no account to set up
- Just your words and photos in a plain form, so the layout stays put
- Or WhatsApp me the change on the care plan: done within the week
